The 2014 Royal Banks of Missouri Lubin-Green-Cohen-Kiem Scholarship is back again!  Three $1000.00 scholarships will be awarded to 3 St. Louis area high school seniors! Help University City Tornado Victims

Please help! The University City Chamber of Commerce is working with the University City Department of Community Development to collect donations for the residents in University City that were affected by the tornado last Thursday. If you wish to donate, please mail (7700 Olive Blvd. St. Louis, MO 63130) or drop off checks payable to U. City Chamber of Commerce, and place "Tornado" in the memo. The Chamber is currently working on setting up more collection sites so stay posted. Thank you for your generosity!

Free Health Screening

Health Protection and Education Service is providing free health screenings at the University City Public Library, 6701 Delmar on Saturday, April 19th. Registration begins at 9 AM through 10:30 AM. No appointment necessary. Free cholesterol testing, diabetes testing and EKGs performed along with other testing. One-on-one consultation with a physician after testing. Free vision testing will be offered, as well as free reading glasses, if indicated.

Small Business Monthly RBOM

University City Chamber of Commerce's free Small Business Workshop, #3 in a series, is coming up on Thursday, April 24th from 9 AM - noon at the University City Public Library. This program will help businesses make smart decisions when spending money on print advertising. Graphic artists and advertising professionals will share tips on how to design an effective ad. Learn ways to better target where, when and how often you advertise. Professionals from Heeley Creative Brighton Agency, and the West End Word will share their expert advise. Bring along one of your own ads for a critique fro our marketing professionals! This event is free to attend, but you must pre-register.

Gallery Exhibition: Living Bridge - Carol Fleming Marks

St. Louis sculptor, Carol Fleming Marks, specializes in designing site-specific and one-of-a-kind artwork in clay. Each piece articulates its environment through the evolution of familiar forms, colors and functions. Marks constantly explores sources of personal inspiration; her work, both monumental and minuscule, embodies a refined aesthetic. This event is free and open to the public through Sunday, April 27th at COCA in the Millstone Gallery.

40th Annual University City Memorial Day Run

The 40th Annual University City Memorial Day Run, one of the oldest 10K races west of the Mississippi, will take place on Monday, May 26th! The U. City Memorial Day Run will provide runners of any level with an exciting and fun experience this Memorial Day. The 10K and 5K runs are the main event, but there is also a fun run for the whole family. The 10K and 5K will begin at 7:30 AM and the Fun Run will begin at 9:15 AM. Proceeds from this event will benefit the non-profit organizations: The Green Center, U. City in Bloom, and the University City Public Library. This year all registration will be done online with the exception of family registration, which can be completed at the University City Public Library.

Summer Art Camps at COCA

Summer Art Camps take place at COCA in University City (524 Trinity Ave.) and Creve Coeur at Whitfield School (175 South Mason Rd.) this year beginning June 2nd through August 15th. Geared for students ages 3 to 18, COCA camps include a multitude of options for exploring theatre, dance, music, visual arts, culinary arts and more! Many of the camps are multidisciplinary, which allow kids and teens the opportunity to combine activities in several areas. Camps are available in one-week sessions, as well as morning, afternoon of full-day options. Before and After Care are available for additional fees. Upcoming Events at Blueberry Hill in the Loop

Blueberry Hill features national touring bands and the best St. Louis bands. The music includes pop, rock, blues, jazz, hip-hop, reggae, country, folk and more. Wallet-size band schedules are available at the front door. Music rooms are 21+ only. Doors open at 8PM unless otherwise noted. Bands begin at 9 PM. American Legion Post 111 Fish Fry

Join the American Legion Post 111 for their Fish Fry on Friday, April 18th, located at 7300 Lansdowne Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63119. Easter Egg Hunt

Join Calvary Fellowship on April 19th at 1 PM at Simpson Park in Valley Park, MO for an Easter Egg Hunt! They will have over 5,000 eggs for children to hunt! Join for a day of fun in the sun, lots of candy, and even some great prizes! Families can register when they arrive and be entered to win some prizes that will be given away throughout the afternoon, including 2 free nights at the Stone Castle Inn in Branson, MO. Top Women's Tennis Players to Compete in FED Cup in St. Louis

The world's top women's tennis players will be coming to St. Louis when the United States faces France in Fed Cup. Matches will be held April 19th through April 20th at Chaifetz Arena on the campus of Saint Louis University. The best-of-five match series begins on Saturday, with two singles matches and is followed by two reverse singles matches and the doubles match on Sunday. Be sure not to miss out on this family friendly event!

Enter Webster's July 4th Parade

Applications are now being accepted for the Webster Groves Community Days 4th of July Parade. The parade will be held on Friday, July 4th, at 10 AM. This year's theme is "Stars and Stripes." Deadline for parade applications is Tuesday, June 3rd, at noon. Entries received after the deadline may not be allowed to participate in the parade. Any entry received after the deadline that is allowed to participate, will be placed at the end of the parade. Be sure not to miss out on this fun filled event!

God's Cod Fish Fry

Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic School will host God's Cod Fish Fry every Friday beginning at 4:30 PM during Lent, including Good Friday. They feature hand breaded cod loins, baked salmon, fried shrimp, house made parmesan potato chips, and, new this year, baked sole in lemon/white wine sauce. The Watson Terrace Christian Church (4205 Watson Rd.) has posted their 2014 BBQ schedule. Annual Easter Egg Hunt

The Hill 2000 and the American Legion Post 15 are hosting their annual Easter Egg Hunt at Berra Park on Easter Sunday, April 20th. The event starts at 11 AM. Both organizations combine to give away over $500.00 in money eggs. Over 5,000 total eggs are put out in the Berra Park ball fields for the kids. Kids (and adults) look forward to seeing each other every Easter and it has become a fabulous tradition for families and The Hill.

FIRST Robotics Championship

The FIRST Robotics Championship will be held this month, beginning Wednesday, April 23rd through Saturday, April 26th. This annual Championship pits teams against one another in a rock 'em sock 'em competition of homemade robots. Watch the best teams from all over the world compete for the top honors in design excellence, competitive play and sportsmanship. The event includes the FIRST Robotics Competition Championship, the FIRST Tech Challenge World Championship, and the FIRST LEGO League World Festival. Also featured is the Junior FIRST LEGO League World Festival Expo. The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication and leadership. Saint Louis Fashion Week begins Wednesday, April 23rd and ends Friday, April 25th. Founded by ALIVE Magazine, Saint Louis Fashion week creates a platform from which local fashion designers can launch their careers and national designers can touch their Midwest customers. Family History Conference

St. Louis Genealogical Society (StLGS) is sponsoring its 44th Annual Family History Conference, "Genealogy in the Computer Age." The conference highlights researching on the computer and available resources. Not all genealogical information is available on the internet, but there is plenty to get you started. The featured speaker is internationally renowned speaker, David E. Rencher, AG, CG, FIGRS, FUGA, Chief Genealogical Officer for FamilySearch who will discuss "FamilySearch: Future and Vision," "Connecting the Community through FamilySearch," and "Electronic Resources for Your Irish Research." Other speakers will discuss more on the topic as well. This year, KMOX radio personality, Charlie Brennan, will give a short talk during the lunch hour on "Ten Things Historians Don't Know about St. Louis." Then he will be available over the lunch hour to sell and sign his new boo, Amazing St. Louis.  A large vendor area will include local genealogy societies and genealogical vendors with publications on a variety of topics. Rounding out the day's excitement will be 6 raffles! Be sure not to miss out!

25th Annual St. Louis Earth Day Festival

St. Louis Storytelling Festival 

The St. Louis Storytelling Festival will take place Thursday, May 1st through Saturday, May 3rd at various locations throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan Area and in St. Charles County. This four-day storytelling extravaganza showcases the best regional and national storytellers - all unique in their performance styles, content and personalities. It encompasses activities for all ages, with special events featuring family storytelling, performances for adults including ghost stories and spiritual and faith-based programs, a youth storytelling concert and programs for the deaf. Featured tellers are Motoko, Jackson Gillman, Kim and Reggie Harris, Beth Horner, Bill Lepp and Tim Tingle. The festival concludes with a Saturday Night Storytelling Concert at the Touhill Performing Arts Center where all the featured storytellers will perform beginning at 7:30 PM.

19th Annual St. Louis Microfest

The 19th Annual St. Louis Microfest takes place from Friday, May 2nd until Saturday, May 3rd in the Upper Muny Parking Lot in Forest Park. The St. Louis Microfest is one of the premiere festivals in the St. Louis area! Microfest is a beer tasting festival that offers festival goers the chance to sample international and craft beers at 3 different session times over 2 days. The festival also includes live music, silent auction, food, live brewer and chef demonstrations, and more than enough fun! Profits from the festival go toward funding Lift For Life Gym. Soap Box Derby & Auto Show

The Hill Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show & St. Louis Jaycee's Soap Box Derby Race takes place on Sunday, June 8th at Shaw VPA Elementary School (5329 Columbia, St. Louis, MO 63110). This tradition helps build strong family connections and community spirit in a way few things can. Registration is from 8 AM - 12 PM. Entry fee costs $10 and a display fee of $5. Awards will be given at 4 PM, and all awards must be picked up the day of the show. Dash plaques are given to the first 150 registrants. All proceeds will benefit St. Ambrose Athletic Association. Ballwin's Taekwondo Class

Join Ballwin's Taekwondo Class at The Pointe at Ballwin Commons (#1 Ballwin Commons Circle) on Wednesday, April 23rd at 6:30 PM. This class is for ages 6 and up. This is a six week course that meets on Wednesdays from April 23rd through May 28th. Students will learn respect, responsibility, and discipline in addition to basic hand and foot techniques. 26th Annual PWA Cinco de Mayo

Register now for the 26th Annual Professional Women's Alliance's  Cinco de Mayo Auction, Dinner and Networking Event on Thursday, May 1st at Crowne Plaza Hotel (7750 Carondelet Ave.)! Join for a fun-filled evening complete with silent auctions, an array of Mexican food specialties and games of chance with great prizes! Doors will open at 5 PM and the cost is $50 per person or $500 for a table. A portion of their proceeds support Lydia's House, which provides safe, transitional housing for abused women and their children. These funds also support PWA members through their mentoring program, training seminars, professional resources and networking. SLU Billiken's Men's Basketball Banquet

The Saint Louis University Men's Basketball Banquet is set for Wednesday, April 30th at 6 PM at Chaifetz Arena. Tickets are $30 per person and may be purchased by calling the Billiken Ticket Office at (314) 977-1260. Free parking is available for guests in the Fred Weber VIP Lot. You may be recognized as a banquet sponsor with a minimum gift of $1,000. In exchange for your generosity, you or your organization will be recognized during the program. In addition, the Billikens captured the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season title for the second year in a row. Go Bills!

City Memorial Day Run will provide runners of any level with an exciting and fun experience this Memorial Day. The 10K and 5K runs are the main event, but there is also a fun run for the whole family. The 10K and 5K will begin at 7:30 AM and the Fun Run will begin at 9:15 AM. Proceeds from this event will benefit the non-profit organizations: The Green Center, U. City in Bloom, and the University City Public Library. This year all registration will be done online with the exception of family registration, which can be completed at the University City Public Library.
